As we were pondering many things this week in our weekly meeting, we came across the question "WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU OWNED THE DANGEROUS WOMEN OF WRESTLING?"So, I decided to post this question and we're going to run a contest. ANYONE can respond (however you must at least be a member of the board) and participate. The winner will get $100 of merchandise from DWOW. This can be t-shirts (company shirt or Sound Guy), Hat (Sound Guy only), Downloads or DVDS (listed on www.dwowvod.com (only). This contest will end on JUNE 1st. Who knows maybe we'll take some advice, or shit sell YOU the company! ***PLEASE READ ALL THE RULES!!!***Please ONLY post ONE response. If you want to add something to your original post, use the EDIT feature on the board. Please make some kind of sense and don't just post NUDE GIRLS! or more BOOBIES! Also, please think within financial means. We don't have WWE or TNA money. You can talk about the whole operation in general, from day to day activities, website, tv, live events, whatever you want. The three best entries will be picked and voted on. Good luck! And we're looking forward to hearing and seeing your input. -MOD

Running a professional wrestling company is something I'd always love to do. I'm obsessed with wrestling and I always love seeing it when it's done the right way. If I was running Dangerous Women of Wrestling, I would do things alot different. Here are the points I would focus on to make the company into a great promotion.
1. Roster - Bring in women who can really wrestle, One of the things that would always throw me off is seeing strippers or swimsuit models posing as wrestlers. Women's wrestling will never get the resepect that men's wrestling gets because women who can legitimately wrestle never get the spotlight. It's boring seeing untrained girls who look great and are sexy but just fumble around the ring and make asses of themselves. I know damn well that there enough sexy women in independant wrestling in america who can bring this sport to the next level. And of course, Importing female wrestlers from Japan and Mexico would be a huge plus of exposing new talent and bringing a international flair to the promotion. After establishing a solid roster which should consist of a group of main event level, mid card and tag teams. Because a championship belt for Main event, Mid Card and Tag Teams is a must.
2. Overall Wrestling Style - Dangerous Women of Wrestling should represent all styles of female wrestling, Let's not be know not for just one style of match but let's represent everything, Hardcore, Lucha, Gimmicks matchs, Joke matchs, basically every style that can be done. That way there is something for every kind of fan to get into. Another thing is a philosophy from the days of the original ecw that made that promotion one of the greatest in my opinion. When you went to a ECW show, There was a spark and a vibe in the air because of one thing. It was the fact the any one person on the roster could have the match of the night no matter how high or low they were on the roster. It was that spontanous thing made people be entertained by that league. Things should not be set in stone, Titles should change hands, Never let things get stale. This is why the WWE and TNA fail to spark peoples interest because the angles are so predictable.
3. TV - A weekly tv show is a must, The only way you are going to get a solid audience is having a product they can follow and root for. I know that tv networks like Mynetwork TV, FX, and Spike TV are always looking for programming along the lines of the direction I'd like to see for this promotion. And if the network thing does not work, Do a internet show, which you can at first distribute over youtube to get them hooked. Then on the Dangerous Women website you can charge like 5 to 10 bucks for a episode. You can then film enough episodes to fill a full season and then reapproach the networks again with ready to go full season.
4. Internet - Never underestimate the power of the internet, Let's face the facts that Mcmahon and TNA won't, Wrestling should cater to the marks, The die hard internet wrestling junkies that will support the product, Not the fly by night casual John Cena loving sports entertainment fan. Because in my opinion there is a differance between sports entertainment and pro wrestling. People watch wrestling to seeing great fighting, interesting characters and over the top situations, Not soap opera gimmicky bullshit that centers around nonsense that is everything other than wrestling. Use sites like myspace to keep a connection to the fans,To keep people updated on shows, appearances, signings and info. Listen to what they like and dislike because in the end that's who is keeping you in business.
5. House shows - At first when you are building a new auidance, Only do shows in places that are known for loving wrestling, Philly, New York, New Jersey, Chicago and Florida are places that are always on the money for wrestling. And don't go after the big arenas, Having the shows in smaller places just adds to the exprience of seeing the performers closer instead of being so far away from the action. Let the auidance grow with you, As the promotion gets bigger, You can expand shows all across the country and someday travel across the world.
6. Merchandise - This is always a life blood of going out on the road, You just can't have random t shirts and dvds, Have merchandise that can only be bought at house shows, Not on the net or any where else. By having t shirts, dvds, and other products that can only be bought at house shows it makes going to the house show more anticipated. This way you have the basic merchandise on the web for people to buy and people will go out of there way to get the special merchandise sold only at the house shows.
6. Pay Per Views - Make Pay Per Views worth buying, With a PPV event, It should mean something. Nothing worse than looking forward to buying a ppv and it turns turns out to be a complete dud. And broadcasting the ppv over the net is another way of expanding the audience as well as bringing in more revenue. If during the tv show we do a certain level of sex and violence, It should be upped and doubled for a PPV, Make it so the fan feels like he is missing out on some kind of spectacle that can not be missed.
7. Tournaments - This is something that seems to be a lost art in majors of wrestling but not in the Indys. A tournament to establish who is the champion is great in many ways because it gives the show a overall direction and within this tournament many storylines and rivialries can be bulit upon. A tournament like this should happen once a year so fans can look forward to it as a great event to watch.
8. Solid Characters - Wrestling is and always be about the larger than life characters coming out to the ring to give us the best show possible and No wants to Jill Average come out and just walk into the ring. Coming out to the ring should be something special. One of the most memorable things I remember seeing is being at the ECW Arena was Sabu being wheeled out on a gurney with a straight jacket on and a Hannibell Lecter mask on. You instantly knew this guy was insane! So whatever that character is should be amped up and brought over the top.
With those points, Things could go in a completely different direction and this promotion would definetly stand on it's own and step outside of the box to become something completely new.

Yes I'm still here. Despite whats been happening recently, I haven't had much to say I guess. Though I do about this.
You want realistic? Ok, its simple. Simply make available event tapes you have. All the ones that you have sitting on a shelf somewhere that are already edited, in fit to go form.
I say this because, with that recent VOD release, there were server events from 1999, that aside from maybe some of them having parts in the vintage series DVD to my knowledge may never have been seen even to some of the hardcore fans of the company. There are also DVDs that used to be on the site that have been taken down because you are "out of stock". Well look in fairness, thats a bunch of crap.
I know you said was crazy when I said people want stuff free, but one thing that is true and is proven my the fact that you sell VODs, and people don't buy CDs anymore, is people don't care about physical like collectors keepsake DVD cases anymore ... they just want that content.
So what does that mean for you? Well basically it means you put everything you've got up on that website, just removing the expectation of the DVD case. Somebody orders a DVD, you burn it, you send it to them, its that simple. Its cheap, it makes you money, what the hell more could you want. And whats more it gives your fans exactly what they want too choice, and likely and hopefully evenly lower prices, because the overhead on your end is lower as well.

I could post my ideas if the contest is still on! Go ahead! Let's hear what you have to say! -MOD. Okay, be careful what you wish for 1. The Site I would do what I could to have as professional a website as possible. This would mean more news, updated roster and releases whenever someone joins up and/or leaves, regular card updates and some video clips. (You guys already have some cool clips on YouTube and Myspace so why not add them to the main site?) Another thing I would do is replace the pay per download section with a full fledged Members Only wing on the site. Have members pay a flat rate per month with exclusive content like first dibs on PPV's, the oil matches, etc available here. I have bought some of the stuff on the site already but I would certainly be up for paying a fee of anywhere between $10-25 per month to access the whole area so long as there are regular updates. (The company can get a more loyal fanbase that way and have a steady income stream in the process.) 2. TV I'm not local so much of this may be irrelevant just as a warning: Between 1996 or so and 1998 up until the day Heyman signed with TNN/Spike, ECW put all of their weekly TV shows on the internet. Granted this was in the dialup age and the video quality was CRAP but those of us who didn't buy stuff from RFVideo or had no access to ECW PPV's could keep up with the shows. They even ran net only commercials on the netcasts. (Yes all they ran were Heyman's WCW/WWF results before they happen hotline and XXX Phone Sex spots but whatever makes the idea financially worth your while is fine.) This can grow the audience further across the board. (At the very least the Meltzers of the world would be able to put the match results on their sheets.) 3. Title Matches I would make damn sure the main title is on the line at EVERY PPV. (Regardless of how often they run.) The important thing here is to push angles and programs. GLOW and WOW went down the toilet quick because there were no angles of any kind, just awful stereotype gimmicks facing each other. (Was the GLOW Crown EVER on the line after the tournaments?) Make the belt mean something and you get people caring about the rest of the show. That said, an Oil Match for the title could be done once in a blue moon for the exclusive section of the site but I probably wouldn't have a title change there. 4. Overall Booking I would probably have a sideline reporter doing interviews either before or after matches or standing promos for matches the way ECW did. (Interviews in the ring done by the announcers would be fine too.) If you don't have a large number of performers who can cut a really good promo, this can reduce the need for that by over half and enhance the quality of the segments. 5. Overall Booking 2 I like Heyman's old style of booking in the sense that I would mix it up, (with the only exception of constantly using tag teams of guys who hate each other winning the tag titles and breaking up instantly and 3 way dances all the time, those are seldom any good.) Serious hardcore, T&A matches, promos of good and bad variety, (the So Bad It's Good promo being one of Heyman's favorite styles if you watch the older ECW tapes,) and solid wrestling. Going with a tighter roster helps build this foundation early and expand where it is needed in that regard as you go. 6. Overall Booking 3 If humanly possible, I would have relatively long title reigns with the title exclusively on the line for PPV's and Members Only matches. (It can be done as long as you use still shots on tv to prove they happened as the Meltzer's of the world will hopefully have the match results up if someone sends them to him.) To offset the World Title being an exclusive PPV title, I would add an Intergender belt, (Sound Guy Forever!) and a TV Title. This way you have enough chances for good hardcore and good all around wrestling matches every week. 7. Where to Run Heyman went broke for 2 main reasons: 1. He broke up with Tod Gordon and 2. He tried to go National before he saw the money from his PPV's. Had he stayed in Philly, he would likely still be in business today without Vince's help. Stay on the East Coast but be careful how far out you go. (EX: I wouldn't run a show in Boston unless I was SURE it would sell out as it is pretty far away from the main base despite still being on the coast.) Philly, Jersey, Pitt, maybe the NYC area, would be the territory. Anywhere else would have to be proven before I even think of running there. EDIT 8. Roster I may have covered this earlier but I wanted to throw a few more comments in here specifically. My take on DWOW is based on having seen a few downloads and a DVD that I bought so my knowledge is minimal. (Since there is no official roster on the site.) I would keep a few of the 'strippers turned wrestlers' in the mix for 2 reasons: 1. Most are in damn good shape and 2. Would any fan of wrestling, (that isn't down with ECW or CZW or the likes,) have taken GI Ho seriously if they saw her stuff before the classic hardcore matches she did? Some have it, some don't, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater there. That said, I would keep the oil matches on a member's only section and use them once in a while but not regularly. (There's just more to offer fans now.) Bringing in ladies who can wrestle is never a bad idea so that would continue if I was in charge but I would also want to keep the hardcore matches coming too. (Remember, despite all of the insanity of ECW, the centerpiece was Shane Douglas or RVD, two solid technical wrestlers. Eddie Gilbert too before them.) 9. Roster 2 A few more guys who can talk wouldn't hurt. All I saw from that end on the DVD and downloads was Sound Guy and Smoke. Both are solid but there needs to be a few more, (especially if you were to use an Intergender title.) A stable or two would help get this over too. 10. Street Team I hate Rob Black with a passion that would make Jim Cornette proud and XPW as well but they got one thing right: They utilized a street team to get the word out. (Putting flyers on cars everywhere they could find them with card info and the website URL.) Offer fans either samples of the members only section, dvd samplers or tickets to shows in exchange for them helping out does have some potential. Those are just a FEW things, I could go into detail but... L8
